Knights of Columbus Council 85 was chartered January 7, 1894 and has been an active part of St. Luke’s parish life for over a century! We participate in many parish ministries, as ushers, lectors, adult altar servers, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Eucharist.
As a Fraternity of Faith, our Council has a spiritual mission assisting seminarians, the Keep Christ in Christmas Program, and supporting St. Luke’s devotional observances. Every year the Council enjoys building the outdoor crèche at the beginning of the Advent season, which is a public display of our faith.
The Annual Charity Golf Tournament and Annual Tootsie Roll Drive are examples of how we raise funds that help to support many charitable efforts.
Council 85 contributes to a wide range of worthy community charities, including the Appalachian Service Project, Westborough Food Pantry, disaster relief, those with physical and intellectual disabilities, veterans’ activities, Ukrainian relief, pregnancy support, and visits to the sick and elderly, to name a few. We also provide scholarships and awards that are presented to C.C.D. and high school graduates.
Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to all Catholic men. There are more than 2 million members who belong to over 16,000 councils worldwide. The order donated nearly $154 million to worthy causes and stepped up with close to 48 million hours of volunteer service. This is Faith in Action on a global scale.
